28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,[a] who[b] have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[c] 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[d] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It’s great to actually read these words. The great meaning behind them! I am blown away!
When I read the last phrase, “…nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord,” I see God’s entire plan for humankind. God, the ALMIGHTY God of the universe, wrapped in layers upon layers of glory and majesty, who has the right to destroy us all to bits for the sins we’ve committed, who created the universe with a word, and saw that it was good, who created man and saw that we were “very good”, the only creation to get a “very”, wow, what an AWESOME God, no, there is NONE like Him.
And He LOVES us. We’ve done NOTHING to deserve this. There’s a song by Casting Crowns, “Who Am I?” and in it, they sing, “Not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve done; Not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are”. Such truth! It’s so beautiful. He humbled himself to the position of servant, died on the cross and broke the chains of death. Why? So we could have life, and live forever in His presence, worshipping all that He is. Oh, I am so excited for heaven ^_^
And NOTHING can separate us from this love. Nothing. When you read “nothing” read “nothing”. Nothing. Not myself, not anyone else, not any worldly idol, even if my heart is worshipping it, and not the Rightful God. He will still love me, and welcome me back to glory and love. (Except, I need to be careful to not blasheme the Holy Spirit, as Jesus warned us.)
Wow. I am again blown away by the LOVE of God. Oh, how wide, and long, and high and deep! Hallelujah and Amen!
